Delaware County invites applications for an exciting four-year leadership opportunity to serve as the Director for the County’s America250PADelco program. Delaware County is an official county partner to the state commission, America250PA, by a resolution approved in July 2021, and County Council recently approved a resolution to establish a commission to support the existing volunteer group. This position will coordinate with this established volunteer group and expand the program’s stakeholder group to include all relevant sectors of the Delco community to maximize the impact of the America250 celebration for Delaware County residents and visitors alike.
The mission of America250PADelco is to engage all Delaware County residents and visitors in the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by providing and supporting experiences, now through 2026, that ignite imaginations, elevate diverse stories, inspire service, and highlight the America’s foundations and 250 years of American history through Delco’s unique lens. Delaware County has an extraordinary history and unique historic assets that position it to be a leader in the entire country in celebrating this momentous occasion.
The Position
Delaware County is seeking an energetic and experienced professional to coordinate and lead this effort, bringing together the many relevant stakeholders to establish a proactive and successful Commission. These stakeholders include: the existing volunteer America250PADelco committee, Visit Delco, Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, the Commerce Center, the Foundation for Delaware County, World Cup leadership, businesses and community organizations from all corners of Delco, educational institutions, and local governments. In addition, this professional will be coordinating closely with the statewide America250PA committee.
The position will be housed within the Commerce Center of Delaware County and funded through the Economic Development Oversight Board. It is a four-year position through 2026, although there is a possibility of extension if there is a continued need throughout the County for this position.
The salary range for the position is between $90,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience, and includes a full benefit package.
Qualifications
This position requires experience in the following areas:
Development: This position will be responsible for raising resources and supporting the implementation of projects created by the Commission. Initial funding for this project has been authorized by County Council from the County’s ARPA allotment, but sustained fundraising for operations, marketing and programming will be the responsibility of the Director.
Marketing and Branding: This successful candidate for this position will have rich experience in both marketing and branding, with experience in all types of media and communications. A primary responsibility of this position is to create a marketing program that will successfully communicate to the entire region how Delaware County is celebrating its unique role in Americas birth 250 years ago.
Leadership and Coordination: This position will require great skill in recruiting encouraging and coordinating many different stakeholders with a unified and organized program approach. The successful candidate will have a proven record of organizing large stakeholder groups and working with diverse and varied participants in large-scaled projects.
This position also requires the following skills:
Budget management for multiple projects
Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills
Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
Experience with contact management systems preferred
Grant writing and management skills preferred
Management of small teams through multi-year program implementations
In addition to these skills and experience, the Director should have a demonstrated deep connection to and knowledge of Delaware County.
Experience Required:
A minimum of 10 years of relevant development, marketing and leadership experience in this region is required. Experience in Heritage Tourism is a bonus.
